Johnnie is a native to Perry County. She started her nursing career
as an Licenses Practical Nurse in 1999, she obtained this degree at the
Hazard Vocational School. She began her career at the Hazard Nursing
Home, now none as Hazard Health and Rehab. After a few months she joined
Hazard ARH in January of 2000. Within the next few years she returned
to school to complete her associates in applied science at Hazard
Community College. During her last year in nursing school she left HARH
and joined Saint Joseph Health Care in Lexington, Ky. Shortly after
completing her nursing program and became a Licensed Registered Nurse,
she returned to HARH as a staff RN in July of 2003. In which she
continues to work there full time as a APRN with the neurologist. Prior
to obtaining her APRN license, she returned to complete her BSN through
Eastern Kentucky University graduating in 2012 and returning to EKU to
obtain her MSN, going on to be certified by American Association of
Nurse Practitioners, starting her APRN career in July of 2016. She has
been privileged to work with Hazard ARH's neurologist Dr. Krishnaswamy,
whom has shared his knowledge with her regarding neurological disorders
including but not limited to stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis,
headaches, carpal tunnel and many other disorders. During Johnnie's time
with ARH she has held several positions and gained a broad knowledge of
nursing from these, from working as a LPN, staff RN, Head Nurse
manager for 5 years then finishing her last 3 years as an RN as House
Nurse Supervisor for HARH. She is a member of AANP and Kentucky
Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Midwives. She joined PCCEK in
Hazard in January of 2018 as a part time APRN-NPC providing care as a
family nurse practitioner to Perry as well as the surrounding counties
during several weekends of the month and some evenings. Johnnie enjoys
providing care to her patients and always does her best to make sure
that they are treated appropriately and understand their disease process
and the needed treatment. Johnnie enjoys spending time with her family
and serves as a role model to her daughter.
